Person-centered counselling, developed by Carl Rogers, emphasises the client's potential for self-healing and personal growth. It creates a supportive, non-judgmental environment through three core principles: empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence.

  • Empathy involves understanding the client's perspective, fostering deep connection.

  • Unconditional positive regard offers unwavering support, allowing open expression without fear of judgment.

  • Congruence means the therapist is genuine and transparent, building trust.

This approach empowers clients to explore their thoughts and feelings, promoting self-awareness and self-acceptance. Ultimately, person-centered counselling helps clients achieve greater personal fulfillment and well-being by respecting their autonomy and encouraging self-exploration.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."  Carl Rogers

Gestalt therapy, developed by Fritz Perls, focuses on self-awareness and the present moment. It emphasizes understanding the whole person, including thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, within their current context. Key principles include the importance of personal responsibility, the here-and-now experience, and the integration of mind and body. Techniques such as role-playing and the empty chair are used to explore unfinished business and unresolved emotions.

Gestalt therapy aims to help clients become more aware of their patterns and choices, leading to increased self-acceptance, personal growth, and the ability to live more authentically and fully.
